In the morning, your expert guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to your chosen destination: Rio Manso, Lake Hess, or Lake Los Moscos.
Rio Manso meanders through the Andean valleys, flanked by lush forests and towering mountains. This river connects the lakes Mascardi, Los Moscos, La Medialuna, Hess, and Steffen. It offers an opportunity to catch rainbow, brown, and brook trout and is situated 65 km from Bariloche.
Lake Hess is a stunning location where only rowboat fishing is permitted. Its shores are lush with vegetation, providing a haven for nesting waterfowl. It’s an ideal spot for fishing with large dry flies. On a lucky day, a dragonfly hatch can make your experience unforgettable, as large trout leap out of the water to snag them mid-air. This lake is 60 km from Bariloche.
Lake Los Moscos is a small lake approximately 4 km in diameter, with the Manso River running through it from east to west. This lake allows for fishing across the entire lake and about three km of the Manso River to the west, using only rowboats. Here, you can catch brown, rainbow, and brook trout.
All three locations are part of a spectacular area within the National Park, offering breathtaking scenery and a pleasant climate.
Upon reaching the boarding point, your guide will explain the fishing techniques recommended for the excursion:
  • Fly fishing: This involves casting flies—“dressed” hooks that mimic insects, small fish, shrimp, etc.—using a weighted line specifically designed for this method. Mastering this technique requires practice and dedication, but it’s gaining popularity worldwide.
  • Spinning: This technique involves casting and retrieving artificial lures, like spoons, which mimic the movement of small organisms in the water. If successful, you can entice trout to strike. Spinning is permitted in all lakes and certain river sections, whether from the shore or boats. We recommend ultra-light gear and simple barbless hooks.
  • Trolling: In Nahuel Huapi National Park, numerous idyllic lakes are perfect for this style of fishing. We tow artificial lures at a slow speed from a motorboat while enjoying the stunning landscapes.
The excursion will then commence, navigating the Manso River, Hess Lake, or Los Moscos Lake, employing your chosen fishing technique.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you'll reach the river or lake’s edge to savor a delicious lunch in nature. Following a break, you’ll continue floating and fishing in the afternoon at the prime spots that the Manso River or the Lakes offer.
Throughout the journey, your guide will share the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region and introduce you to the best fishing options and fish species in the area.
After covering 12 km during the day, your guide will lead you to the exit point of the River or Lakes, where you’ll be met by vehicles ready to return you to your hotel.
