Tour Description

This journey through the Quebrada de Humahuaca offers travelers a chance to discover breathtaking landscapes while delving into the region's ancient cultural heritage. The tour emphasizes social interaction and provides a distinctive perspective on the ancestral traditions.
The excursion begins around 9am with a visit to the charming village of Purmamarca, where visitors can admire the renowned Cerro de los Siete Colores. The adventure then proceeds to Posta de Hornillos before reaching the picturesque town of Tilcara.
Following Tilcara, the journey continues towards Huacalera, passing through the Tropic of Capricorn, offering views of the stunning hill called Pollera de la Coya. A key highlight of this itinerary is a stop at the Church of Uquía, celebrated for its collection of Arquebusier Angels paintings, a significant remnant of the Cuzco school.
The subsequent stop is Humahuaca, a town known for its remarkable Cathedral and the Independence Monument (El Indio), a sculpture crafted by the artist Soto Avendaño. After a lunch break (at each traveler's expense), the tour resumes, covering the 42 kilometers to the viewpoint.
From Humahuaca, we head east along provincial route 73, entering the cultivated valleys of Coctaca. The route ascends to an altitude of 4200 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the Multicolored Hill of the Serranía del Hornocal. These magnificent panoramic vistas at the viewpoint provide an opportunity to appreciate and understand the geography of the entire Quebrada de Humahuaca region.
The excursion is conducted by vehicle and lasts 8 hours. The maximum altitude reached during the tour is 4200 meters above sea level. We return at approximately 5pm, arriving in San Salvador de Jujuy or another intermediate town, as per the itinerary and preferences of the travelers.
