Descripción del Tour:

In the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to embark on a journey to the Limay River. This magnificent river winds through the Patagonian steppe, an awe-inspiring region of the National Park, known for its breathtaking landscapes and pleasant climate. The river's clear waters, stunning scenery, and exceptional fishing opportunities make a float trip on the Limay River an unforgettable adventure. As the most prominent river in the National Park, it offers various fishing options for both beginners and experienced anglers. It's a haven for Rainbow and Brown trout as well as Patagonian Perch.
The Limay River is ideal for dry fly fishing from November to March. In April, large trout migrate from the expansive lake to the river to commence their breeding cycle. The Limay is divided into five distinct sections, each approximately 12 km long, near San Carlos de Bariloche, offering a range of excursions.
Upon reaching the embarkation point on the Limay River, your guide will introduce you to the two fishing techniques we recommend for the excursion:
  • Fly Fishing: This technique involves casting flies – hooks “dressed” to mimic insects, small fish, shrimp, etc., using a weighted line specifically designed for this purpose, requiring a precise technique. This method undoubtedly demands practice and dedication, especially to master the casting. However, fly fishing is increasingly popular worldwide.
  • Spinning: This method involves casting and retrieving artificial lures like spoons, simulating the movement of a small organism in the water, enticing the voracious trout to attack if successfully deceived.
The excursion then begins, as you sail on the Limay River, utilizing your chosen fishing technique.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you will arrive at the riverbank to enjoy a delightful lunch amidst nature. Following a break, you'll continue floating and fishing in the afternoon at the prime spots the Limay River offers.
Accompanied by your guide, you will learn about the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region and discover the best fishing opportunities and types of fish that inhabit the area.
After covering 12 km throughout the day, your guide will return you to the river's starting point, where vehicles will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
Fishing Season
The fishing season kicks off every year on November 1 and concludes within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, North Patagonia. However, off-season fishing is permitted in lakes Nahuel Huapi, Gutierrez, and Mascardi during the entire months of May and October. Lake Moreno allows fishing in all three modes year-round, making it an excellent spot for winter fishing.
