In the morning, your expert guide will pick you up from your hotel to embark on a journey to the Pichi Leufú River. This river is a distinctive feature of the Patagonian steppe, known for its unique morphology that allows fishing exclusively by wading. Situated 60 km from Bariloche, it is enveloped by a semi-desert landscape and stunning mountains. Safe and perfect for wading, this river is suitable for both novice and experienced anglers.
It serves as a haven for rainbow trout, brown trout, and Patagonian perch.
Upon reaching the Pichi Leufú River boarding point, your guide will introduce you to two fishing techniques for the excursion:
- Fly Fishing: This technique involves casting flies, which are "dressed" hooks mimicking insects, small fish, or shrimp, using a specially weighted line designed for this purpose. This method demands practice and dedication to master the casting technique. Fly fishing is gaining popularity worldwide.
- Spinning: This method involves casting and retrieving artificial lures, such as spoons, that imitate the movement of small creatures in the water, enticing the trout to strike if successfully deceived.
The adventure begins as you sail along the Pichi Leufú River, employing your chosen fishing technique.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you'll reach the riverbank to savor a delightful lunch amidst nature. Following a brief rest, you'll resume floating and fishing in the prime spots that the Pichi Leufú River offers during the afternoon.
Accompanied by your guide, you'll gain insights into the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region, along with the best fishing opportunities and species that inhabit the area.
After completing a 12 km journey, your guide will escort you to the river's exit point, where transportation will be waiting to return you to your hotel.

The fishing season kicks off annually on November 1st and concludes on April 30th within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, Northern Patagonia. However, for those interested in off-season fishing, the Nahuel Huapi, Gutierrez, and Mascardi lakes remain open year-round for all three fishing types, allowing us to fish there during the winter months.
