Descripción del Tour:
Join us at 10 am at the Tangol Office in the San Telmo neighborhood. We will embark on a tour exploring the significant places in Jorge Bergoglio’s life. This 3-hour guided experience includes visits to churches, educational institutions, and the beloved Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro, among other sites that shaped his life in Buenos Aires. Our first stop is his childhood home in the Flores neighborhood, where he lived with his family. Next, you will see the schools he attended, such as the Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia & Universidad del Salvador, and the Iglesia del Salvador. You will visit the church of his youth: The Basilica de San Jose de Flores. This is where he received his "divine call" and began his journey in the Church. He reflected: "(at that exact moment) I immersed myself in God’s mercy". In this Basilica, Jorge Bergoglio decided to pursue the priesthood. Our journey continues with the Basílica de María Auxiliadora y San Carlos, where he was baptized. We will also explore the history while enjoying a panoramic view of the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, the club Pope Francis passionately supports. We will then proceed to the San Ignacio de Loyola Church, in the Montserrat district, built by Jesuits in 1675. This is the oldest Church in Buenos Aires and part of the “Manzanas de las luces”. Our tour will conclude at Plaza de Mayo, home to Argentina’s main Catholic temple: The Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires. This significant 16th-century building, declared a historical monument in 1942, is where the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, delivered important Masses. It was here that followers gathered in anticipation of the announcement of his appointment as Supreme Pontiff.
