Trekking In The Cagliero Glacier With Overnight

If you chose the option WITH TRANSFERS, starting at 8 am we will begin  looking for them in the hotels of El Chalten, and then transporting us to Reserva Los Huemules. At 9:00 a.m., from the Visitor Center we will begin our adventure. From there, following the Diablo River upstream, a 1.45-hour walk through a lush lenga forest along a well-maintained trail gives us access to the Diablo Lagoon (770 meters above sea level), a place from where you can see the Cagliero Post, and from where the second stage of our excursion begins, now outside the Los Huemules Reserve and within a private property (Campo Gorra Blanca). Distance: 7 km - Ascent gradient: 300 m

The second part of our excursion consists of skirting the northern margin of Laguna del Diablo through easy terrain, but irregular until reaching the beginning of a Via Ferrata (rock climbing sectors of little difficulty that have previously been prepared with steel cables and artificial steps, so that they move autonomously and secured with harnesses and tapes specially designed for this purpose. ). Before the start of this section, the guides will provide the necessary equipment to the participants and will instruct them in the correct and safe use of it. As the meters pass and you feel confident about the equipment, the journey becomes increasingly entertaining, transforming this part of the activity into an excursion in itself, the views of the Diablo Lagoon and the Valley of the river of the same name will improve as you go. as we move up. Approximately an hour and a half it will take us to reach the Mirador del Glaciar, from there towards the north, we will be able to observe the unexplored Cagliero Sur Glacier (950 meters above sea level). From the viewpoint, a short walk takes us to the front of the Glacier, where the guides will distribute and adjust the crampons to the hikers` boots. Distance: 4 km - Elevation difference: 400 meters

We will begin the third part of our program, which is walking and trekking in glacier itself, if the weather is mild we will have lunch on the Glacier. The average stay on the glacier will be approximately 3 hours, where you can begin ice climbing, depending on the weather conditions and the physical level of the group. In the afternoon we will be back at the Vivac Cagliero shelter, where we can enjoy a hot drink while watching the Glacier. At night, dinner will be offered, and then we will go to rest in our Vivac Dome, which is equipped with 6 beds. 

In the morning, after breakfast and before lunch, we will begin the return . The return will be along the same Via Ferrata to the Base Dome, then we will undertake the Hike through the Green and Blue lagoon path, discovering new landscapes and where we can see the North face of Cerro Fitz Roy. The meeting time for the transfer to El Chaltén will be 5:30 p.m. Transfer to the hotels around 6:30 p.m.
