Tour Description
Planned Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in El Calafate:
Arrive in El Calafate, a charming town located on the banks of Lago Argentino, the largest lake in Patagonia and the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. Overnight in El Calafate.
Day 2: Explore the Perito Moreno Glacier:
Begin your day with breakfast before heading out on an excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. You'll travel approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) from El Calafate to reach the glacier, nestled in the southwest corner of Lago Argentino. The Perito Moreno Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the park's most notable feature, stretching 19 miles long, 3 miles wide, and standing 197 feet high. Accompanied by your guide, walk along the 1,300-foot (400-meter) trail leading to a viewpoint close to the glacier. Spend about two hours at the site; upon reaching the viewpoint (an hour's walk), enjoy free time to capture photos and marvel at the stunning glacier and lake views. This dynamic glacier advances daily, and if fortunate, you might witness the dramatic spectacle of ice calving into the water. You have the option to bring your own food for the trip or dine at the park's restaurant. Overnight in Calafate.
Day 3: Discover Patagonia - Leisure Day:
Enjoy a day at leisure to choose an activity of your preference or simply relax at your hotel. El Calafate offers numerous options, such as sailing amidst glaciers or visiting a Patagonian estancia to learn about the region's unique practices and heritage. Recommended activities include Sailing Rivers of Ice or a Visit to Estancia Cristina, Classic Tour. Overnight in Calafate.
Day 4: Flight from El Calafate to Ushuaia:
After breakfast, transfer to El Calafate airport for your domestic flight to Ushuaia. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted and taken to your hotel, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring the quaint city of Ushuaia, renowned as the world's southernmost city and the capital of Tierra del Fuego Province. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 5: Tierra del Fuego National Park and "End of the World" Train:
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel, then head to the National Park, situated 11 kilometers from Ushuaia. Discover its lakes, lagoons, and rivers, as well as the Beagle Channel. Departing from Maipú Avenue, travel southwest along National Route 3, passing the slope of Mount Susana, a historical site of the old prison, where the Fuegian Train currently operates. Here, you have the option for a tour. Continue through the valley to the Ensenada Bay detour, where you'll see the Redonda and Estorbo Islands, the opposite coast of the Beagle Channel, and Chile's majestic Sampaio mountains. Return to National Route 3, surrounded by the Fuegian forest, to reach Roca Lake for a lakeside walk and view the Lapataia River, originating from the lake. From this vantage point, observe Cerro Condor's natural border with Chile. Proceed to the park's end at Lapataia Bay, where National Route 3 concludes, and admire the Green and Black Lagoons, a developing peat bog. Finally, explore the beaver dams leading to Lapataia Bay. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 6: Leisure Day in Ushuaia:
Following breakfast, enjoy a free day to plan your activities or rest at your hotel. We recommend a 4x4 tour to the Fagnano and Escondido Lakes. Overnight in Ushuaia.
