*Tucumán City Tour: Explore Plaza Independencia and its surroundings, including the Government House, Temple of San Francisco, Cathedral Church, 400 San Martín Street, La Merced Church, and Avellaneda House. Discover Yerba Buena, known as the Garden City, a lush residential area. Overnight in Tucumán.
DAY 02. TUCUMÁN - CAFAYATE.
Travel to Cafayate via Tafí del Valle, Amaicha, and Quilmes.
Route 307 leads the ascent to the Valleys. The road takes us through the Quebrada del Río Los Sosa, where we pause at the “El Indio” monument. Higher up, we reach El Mollar to visit Los Menhires. We continue to the charming town of Tafí del Valle. The RP 307 climbs in a steep zigzag to the Calchaquíes Valleys, reaching the Abra del Infiernillo at 3,042 meters above sea level.
Amaicha del Valle: We explore the square and its surroundings. Upon joining RN 40, we encounter the Sacred City of Quilmes on the left. At the hill's base, see reconstructions of the residential area, topped by a fortress and two additional forts. Walk through what was the final bastion of native resistance against Spanish colonization. The legendary RN 40 continues into the valley heading north, passing through Colalao del Valle.
Cafayate: Known for its sunshine and exquisite wine, Cafayate welcomes us with sprawling vineyards. We visit a local winery. Overnight in Cafayate.
DAY 03. CAFAYATE - SALTA.
Cafayate, situated in the province of Salta, stands as a key location in the Calchaquíes Valleys thanks to its thriving wine industry. Its history, blending Calchaquí, Spanish, immigrant, and Creole influences, endows the city with a late 19th-century colonial-baroque style. Visit the vineyards to sample the unique Torrontés wine. Continue towards Salta through the stunning Quebrada de las Conchas, where wind and water have sculpted astounding formations: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the devil’s throat, the castles, and the amphitheatre, among others. Overnight in Salta.
DAY 04. SALTA.
Free morning
In the afternoon, enjoy a Salta City Tour: Discover the city’s highlights, including Cathedral Basilica, Cultural Center of the Americas, Historical Museum of the North (Cabildo), Minor Basilica of San Francisco, San Bernardo Convent, Monument to Güemes, and ascend Cerro San Bernardo for a panoramic city view. Pass by the Posta de Hornillos, then continue to Tilcara to visit the Pucará and Archaeological Museum.
