We commence our adventure departing from the central accommodations. Our journey takes us 16 km beyond the city, traversing the distinctive landscape provided by National Route No. 3 en route to the winter centers.
The winter center hosting our excursion is known as Wolf Valley, renowned because its owner participated in the famous dog sled race, the Iditarod in Alaska. He returned to the country with wolves to breed them with his dogs, enhancing the races, which is how the center got its name.
Following a brief introduction to the Siberian Husky and Alaskan Husky dogs and a technical and safety briefing concerning bicycles, we gear up to embark on our ride on these electric bikes.
The route spans 10 km across snowy and icy terrain, crossing frozen water bodies, and offering breathtaking views along the way.
This experience is centered around the life and impact of beavers, a species introduced to Tierra del Fuego in 1946. This serves as an example of how human intervention can significantly alter biodiversity and natural processes even in secluded regions.
