Immerse yourself in the wonders of Southern Patagonia with this comprehensive full-day trip to Lake Viedma. This adventure blends glacier navigation, stunning landscapes, leisurely hikes, and a visit to El Chaltén, complete with round-trip transfers from El Calafate. Your journey begins early with hotel pick-up in El Calafate, traveling along the renowned Route 40 to northern Santa Cruz. En route, a stop is made at the historic Parador La Leona, perfect for a break and to soak in the Patagonian scenery.
🚢 Navigation on Lake Viedma
The navigation kicks off at Puerto Bahía Túnel, situated 18 km from El Chaltén. As we set sail southward, we stay close to the shoreline to capture exceptional views of the majestic Huemul Massif.
After about 40 minutes of sailing, we reach Cape Horn Bay. Here, we disembark for a gentle trek to a scenic viewpoint on the Cape Horn Peninsula. From this vantage point, enjoy breathtaking views of Iceberg Bay, where icebergs drift by, having broken off from the glacier.
Following the trek, we board the boat again for an up-close encounter with the Viedma Glacier, the largest glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. This unforgettable experience offers a direct interaction with the Patagonian ice.
