This experience does not adhere to a strict schedule beyond the opening and closing times of the Glaciarium. Although the visit to the museum and a 20-minute stay at the Glacio Bar typically takes about 3 hours, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the experience at their own pace.
As you enter the Glaciarium, you will pass through a dark hallway, accompanied by the soothing sound of dripping meltwater. Informative panels provide insights into the formation of ice, the history of explorers and scientists, and glaciological periods, featuring photographs by renowned Argentine photographers like Florian Von der Flecht, Daniel Wagner, and Andrés Bonetti.
You'll encounter a large model representing the ice field, illustrating the origin of the glaciers you'll see during your visit. There is also a tribute to Francisco Pascasio Moreno.
The tour features a distinctive section dedicated to the Perito Moreno Glacier, famed for its natural dam that eventually ruptures in a spectacular breach. The journey concludes in a tunnel with simultaneous projections, highlighting the pressing issue of climate change.
Moreover, the Glaciarium hosts an exhibition hall presenting photography and painting displays. The “Alberto M. De Agostini” auditorium/cinema showcases the fascinating documentary “La Voz del Glaciar,” featuring stunning drone footage. This venue is equipped with audio and video facilities for events focusing on glaciology, nature, and adventure.
Finally, visit the Eco-Shop, offering a range of designer items and eco-friendly crafts, some made with recycled or natural materials like pure wool. For relaxation, the Glaciarium cafeteria is the perfect spot to enjoy panoramic views of Lake Argentino and the Patagonian steppe.
The Glacio Bar boasts a unique location in the heart of Argentine Patagonia. It spans 80 m² and maintains an ambient temperature of -10 °C. Everything in the bar, from the walls to the furniture (including the glasses, the bar, and the chairs), is crafted from glacier ice.
Upon entering, guests receive
thermal layers and gloves. The internal temperature ranges from -6 to -10 °C. The 20-minute experience is enhanced with animation, lights, and music, creating a lively atmosphere as you enjoy
a shot and drink (including spirits, aperitifs, liqueurs, and non-alcoholic beverages) included in the experience.
