Tour Description

Day 1: Arrival in El Calafate

Upon reaching El Calafate airport or bus terminal, you'll be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

The remainder of the day is yours to explore at leisure.

Day 2: Mini Hike on the Perito Moreno Glacier (The minitrekking is available from early August to the beginning of June)

Los Glaciares National Park

After breakfast at the hotel, your personal guide will escort you to the embarkation pier at “Bajo de las Sombras” port, located about 6 km before the glacier viewpoints, where you will board a 20-minute cruise across Brazo Rico, offering stunning vistas of the Perito Moreno glacier’s front wall.

Upon disembarking on the opposite shore, our specialized bilingual mountain guides will meet you and guide you to a nearby shelter. After final preparations, you'll proceed along the lake’s edge to the glacier’s boundary.

Once on the glacier, the guide will equip each participant with crampons and demonstrate their use. The two-hour trek introduces you to the mesmerizing glacier landscape: streams, small lagoons, gullies, crevasses, and numerous ice formations in the most extraordinary blues.

The ice surface you traverse is uneven yet stable and secure.

You will receive insights into the flora, fauna, and general glaciology of the area, as well as the unique phenomenon that occasionally causes the Perito Moreno Glacier to rupture.

Following the hike, a forest walk leads you back to the shelter. Then, your guide will return you to your hotel.

Free night

Day 3: Gourmet Cruise and Glacier Navigation

Los Glaciares National Park

After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will transport you to the company’s private dock “La Soledad” (Bahía Tranquila, Paraje Punta Bandera). Boarding takes place at 9:00 a.m.

The cruise begins its journey northwest, navigating past Punta Avellaneda and Boca del Diablo, the lake’s narrowest passage at nearly 800 meters.

After two hours of cruising amidst ice floes of diverse colors and shapes, we'll pause before the ice floe barrier currently obstructing Canal Upsala. With favorable weather, we’ll view the Upsala glaciers from afar.

Our journey continues through Lago Argentino towards the south, entering Canal Spegazzini to approach the namesake glacier. This navigation brings us close to the glacier's front walls, which rise between 80 and 135 meters (262 – 443 feet) above the lake.

Gourmet lunch will be served amidst this breathtaking scenery.

In the afternoon, the cruise reaches Puesto de Las Vacas (a serene bay in Canal Spegazzini), where the engines will halt for an enjoyable walk guided by our team. This stop offers spectacular panoramic views of the Spegazzini glacier.

Upon reboarding, we will navigate through Brazo Norte, returning to the La Soledad dock by 6:00 p.m., where your guide will escort you back to your hotel after an unforgettable day.

Free night.

Day 4: Farewell to El Calafate

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you'll have some free time before your guide arrives to take you to the airport or bus terminal.

The best time to visit El Calafate is from October to April, when the Patagonian weather is milder, there are more hours of daylight, and most excursions and boat trips are operating. In summer (December–February), the average temperature ranges from 5°C to 18°C, and the Patagonian wind can be strong. In autumn and winter (May–September), there are fewer visitors, snowy landscapes, and intense cold, with possible closures or reduced service. The weather is changeable: dress in layers, bring a waterproof jacket, and be prepared for itinerary adjustments. The Perito Moreno Glacier is breathtaking in every season.

To make the most of your excursion to El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, pack layered technical clothing: a thermal base layer, a fleece, and a waterproof/windproof jacket. Add comfortable pants, hiking boots with good traction, a hat, gloves, a buff, thermal socks, and UV-protective sunglasses. Pack sunscreen, lip balm, a reusable water bottle, a 20–30 L backpack, and snacks. Bring cash or a card for park entrance fees, souvenirs, and meals. If you'll be doing boating or mini-trekking, bring an extra jacket, a waterproof backpack cover, and a camera. Don't forget your ID, travel insurance, and tour confirmations.

Prices for the El Calafate Deluxe package vary depending on the season, hotel category, type of excursions (regular or private), and availability. To guarantee your rate and availability for Perito Moreno Glacier and boat trips, it is advisable to book in advance. Cancellation and change policies depend on the selected rate and local service providers; modifications are usually permitted for a fee if requested within the established deadlines, and penalties apply for no-shows. Standard payment methods are accepted (credit card, bank transfer). Entrance fees to Los Glaciares National Park and optional services can be paid upon arrival. Request a detailed quote and terms and conditions before confirming.
