The tour sets off as we meet our guides and instructors at the designated meeting point in the heart of the City of Puerto Madryn. From this location, we will proceed to the beach where we will board the boat that will transport us to the site of the Sea Lion colony.
Throughout the navigation, we will be treated to stunning views of the beach, cliffs, and the city of Puerto Madryn. During the 25-minute journey, it's possible to spot a variety of seabirds and, depending on the season, even whales and dolphins.
Upon arrival at a small beach within the Protected Natural Area Punta Loma, we will receive theoretical instruction on snorkeling techniques, proper conduct within the protected area, and buoyancy (it's important to note that with the neoprene suit, no additional flotation devices are needed as it allows us to float). It's crucial to understand that we are visitors in the animals' habitat.
Before we even enter the sea, the sea lions will greet us with their heads bobbing near the boat, eager to see who will be the first to dive in and interact with them.
Once fully equipped, we will slowly make our way into the water, and soon the sea lions will begin to circle us, showing little fear and a great deal of curiosity. Although we cannot touch them, we will observe how they seamlessly continue their daily activities around us, integrating us into their environment. The snorkeling activity will last approximately 45 minutes.
We will return to the shore by the same boat, arriving back in the city of Puerto Madryn.
