As we traverse the city, you'll witness remnants of Salta's golden era through its cathedrals and gilded mansions. Today, Salta is celebrated for its stunning and well-preserved colonial architecture.
Upon reaching the central plaza, marvel at the magnificent Salta Cathedral with its twin towers, erected in 1885. Here, you'll learn about national hero General Güemes, whose remains rest in the cathedral. Güemes valiantly fought against the Spanish during Argentina's War of Independence.
As we pass by the Cultural Center of the Americas, take in the Spanish colonial architecture of the viceroyalty at the Museo Histórico del Norte, situated in the former cabildo, or city hall.
