Tour Description
The tour kicks off with a hotel transfer in Salta at 07:00 AM.
Guided by experienced local guides, we journey towards the Quebrada de Humahuaca region. Our first stop is Purmamarca, where we marvel at the Cerro de los Siete Colores, visit the historic Church, and explore the Artisan Market in the town square. We then proceed past Horn Post, making our way to the town of Tilcara to explore the Pucará and the Archaeological Museum.
Our journey continues to Huacalera, where we cross the Tropic of Capricorn, offering a view of the vibrant Pollera de la Colla Hill. We will also visit the Church of Uquía, home to the famous paintings of the Angels Arcabuceros, significant examples of Cuzco-style art. Upon reaching Humahuaca, we explore the remarkable Cathedral and the Monument to Independence (El Indio) crafted by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.
Our adventure proceeds as we pass through the town of Iturbe and Abra del Cóndor, situated at 3,900 meters above sea level, finally arriving at the entrance of a quaint gorge that leads to Iruya, a village with pre-Hispanic roots. We spend the night here (accommodation not included) and embark on our return journey to Salta the following day, with a stop in San Salvador de Jujuy along the way.
We arrive back at our hotels in Salta in the afternoon.
