  • Tour Description

The adventure kicks off with a pick-up from centrally located hotels in El Calafate. As you travel to Los Glaciares National Park, a bilingual guide enriches the journey with insights into the region's flora, fauna, and history.

The tour follows the historic Route 15, famously referred to as the "Estancias Road", traversing classic Patagonian scenery and weaving tales of indigenous peoples, pioneers, and early settlers.

The initial stop is at the renowned Estancia Nibepo Aike, where you can explore the vintage shearing shed, now a family heritage museum. You will then relish a traditional Patagonian lamb barbecue in the estancia’s barbecue area, complemented by a salad bar, dessert, and drinks. A vegetarian option is available upon request.

After lunch, the journey proceeds to the South Glacier Pier to embark on a cruise through the South Arm and Rico Arm of Lake Argentino.

During this segment, you'll disembark at Playa de las Monedas, a location reachable solely by boat. From there, a gentle 40-minute walk through the native forest leads to the Mirador de las Rocas viewpoint, offering a stunning view of the Perito Moreno Glacier. For those who prefer not to hike, remaining on board to reach the viewpoint by boat is an option.

Once back on the boat, the voyage continues in front of the majestic southern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier, providing the chance to witness ice calving and observe the glacier's advance toward the Magellan Peninsula, a globally renowned phenomenon due to its famous rupture.

The excursion concludes with a landing at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, where you'll access the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways. Strolling along these walkways allows you to view the glacier from various angles and savor one of Argentine Patagonia's most iconic landscapes.

After over an hour exploring the panoramic balconies, the return journey to El Calafate begins as the sun sets.

To enjoy your excursion in Patagonia, dress in layers: a thermal base layer, a fleece/polar fleece jacket, and a waterproof/windproof jacket. Wear comfortable pants and closed-toe shoes with good traction (hiking boots). Bring a hat, gloves, a buff, UV sunglasses, and sunscreen; the Patagonian wind is strong and the weather can change quickly. Also pack a reusable water bottle, snacks, a camera, and a power bank. In summer, prioritize sun protection and a windbreaker; in winter, extra thermal socks and layers. If you are prone to seasickness, consider taking preventative medication for sailing. Avoid large suitcases or backpacks. Keep your ID, voucher, and some cash handy in case you need extras at the lodge or on board.

The cancellation and change policy depends on the date and fare; it is usually flexible with partial or full refunds if you cancel with sufficient notice. Due to adverse weather or safety concerns, the operator may modify schedules, alter the route, or cancel the cruise; in that case, rescheduling or a proportional refund for the affected segment will be offered.
