Trekking To The Garay Pass

The hike kicks off at the entrance bridge to La Cumbrecita, meandering through the delightful Historic Center before embarking on the trail that leads up to Cerro Wank. This walk, maintained at a steady pace, conquers a 260-meter gradient to arrive at the peak, situated 1,620 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, the panoramic views herald the onset of a unique adventure.

Heading northward, the trail plunges into the vastness of Pampa de Achala. Amidst open plains, high-altitude streams, and profound tranquility, the path showcases the strength and serenity of the mountains. The landscape, transforming with light and weather, offers new natural vistas at every step.

After several hours on the trail, Paso de Garay emerges, a quaint mountain hamlet now abandoned. Its ancient church, the arch topped with a bell, the modest school, and the dispensary echo bygone days, while the scattered ruins narrate tales of a secluded mountain existence.

In this distinctive setting, relaxation and exploration meld with an outdoor lunch, enveloped by nature and peace.
