At 8 AM, we set off from La Rioja towards Patquía, a town where five routes converge. Our journey leads us to Los Colorados, known for its vibrant red hues and low-lying mountains rising from the dry terrain. This is where we will explore the cave of the Riojano leader Chacho Peñaloza, a historical site where he would strategize with his troops, either evading or confronting the enemy.

Continuing northward, we pass through Catinzaco and Nonogasta before arriving at Chilecito. Here, we embark on a tour of the majestic Famatina mountain range, visiting Cuesta Las Talas, Santa Florentina, the Río del Oro, and stations 1 and 2 of the cableway. We’ll also explore the La Mejicana mine and its exceptional museum, showcasing the significant gold, silver, and copper mining operations from the early 20th century.

Our visit includes exploring several districts of Chilecito, such as Samay Huasi, home and museum of Dr. Joaquín Víctor González (now affiliated with the University of La Plata). We'll also visit the Cristo del Portezuelo and the winery "La Riojana", where we can indulge in a wine tasting experience.

In the afternoon, to conclude our adventure, we will ascend the Cuesta de Miranda to reach the Mirador del Monolito. Here, a stunning blend of green, red, and blue paints the panoramic views. After soaking in this breathtaking scenery, we will return to the city of La Rioja.
