We invite you to explore the wonders of Templar Patagonia: Historical accounts suggest that the Templar Fleet transported the Holy Grail to South America from England, with "El Fuerte" being its first stop. This vast coastal plateau is visible to the south of Las Grutas.
Our adventure begins with a journey in a legendary convoy of 4x4 military trucks, taking us to the Villa de los Pulperos. Experience the thrill of sandboarding on the dunes of Piedras Coloradas beach, followed by a delightful Patagonian barbecue by the sea.
For dessert, we'll delve into "The Basement" to understand the formation of tides. At the Argentino Fort, enjoy a snorkeling session in the Laguna de Loma Blanca, and conclude the afternoon by cooling off in the ocean while listening to the captivating legend of the Templars.
Tour Description
Our adventure commences from Las Grutas at the designated meeting point at 10:00 am, with just a 50 km journey to the Argentine Fort.
The inaugural stop is at Villa de los Pulperos, where we disembark from the 4x4 trucks to delve into this beach and discover the age-old techniques used by locals for harvesting the world's smallest octopuses. This Villa is the starting point of the path known as “El Camino de los Pulperos,” a gravel road traversed for over 75 years, lined with canyons rich in marine fossils.
Continuing southward along the route, we'll encounter the beach of Piedras Coloradas, a haven for artisanal fishing boats, birdwatching enthusiasts, and the renowned granite stones lending the area its name. This beach is encircled by a chain of dunes ready to challenge us in the exhilarating activity of sandboarding. Guides will provide boards and sleds for us to glide freely across the sand.
Post-dune excitement, the path becomes more demanding due to the intricate sands of "El Buque." Here, the 4x4 will navigate through the terrain's challenges to lead us to the campsite set up by our guides, where we'll savor a genuine Patagonian barbecue by the seaside.
Post-lunch, our journey continues for approximately 15 kilometers to reach "El Sótano," a coastal region showcasing the largest tidal variation in Argentina. At this location, the beach can span 1,200 meters, and in under six hours, the water can obstruct our convoy's path. We'll pause to observe and understand the formation of these tides.
The final 20 km of our expedition will lead us to Fuerte Argentino. Along the way, we might spot guanacos, foxes, armadillos, tortoises, and vultures soaring above. When the grand plateau unfolds before us, we'll step out of the 4x4 to admire its splendor. Here, we'll linger to enjoy the Laguna de Loma Blanca, formed at high tide, where we can cool off and engage in snorkeling, exploring its rich marine life, including silversides, octopuses, crabs, and mullets.
To conclude the day, we'll share the sunset accompanied by mate and conversations, learning about the history of Templar Patagonia and the origins of Fuerte Argentino and its earliest settlers.
Around 6:00 p.m., we'll begin our return journey along the same road back to Las Grutas, concluding the services with a drop-off at the meeting point.
