Tour Description
We will begin our adventure with a pick-up from our accommodation in El Peñón. From there, we embark on a 75 km journey in a 4x4 vehicle to reach the magnificent Galán Volcano.
Our first stop will be the Cavi Lagoon, where we will encounter flamingos. The high levels of minerals such as arsenic and saltpeter in this area make it a challenging habitat for them.
Next, we proceed to the Laguna Grande, home to red foxes and vicuñas. Here, we can also observe around 19,000 flamingos from three species: Jamesi, Andean, and Chilean. These birds are present from September to April before migrating to other lagoons in the provinces of Córdoba and Santa Fé.
Throughout the tour, we'll marvel at the impressive peñones, massive rock formations soaring to 4,300 meters above sea level. We will then pause at the Galán Volcano viewpoint at 4,800 meters above sea level to take in the breathtaking sight of the Galán Volcano's crater, which spans 35 km in diameter and holds the title of the largest in the world.
Continuing our journey, we will visit the Pabellón Lagoon and the Diamante Lagoon, offering spectacular views perfect for photography and videography. We will also witness the fascinating fumaroles and geysers, which reach temperatures of 80°C.
As our excursion concludes, we will return to El Peñón, where we will be conveniently dropped off at our hotel.
