Pumice Stone Field

The journey commences in Tinogasta, with the adventure beginning at 5:00 am as passengers are collected from centrally located hotels.

Following this, we embark on Route 60 heading towards La Rioja, continuing along Routes 40 and 43 until we arrive at Villa Vil.

From Villa Vil, the path extends for over 100 km of gravel until reaching the Campo de Piedra Pómez, passing through the quaint town of El Peñón. Along this route, travelers will witness breathtaking landscapes including the Carachi Pampa Volcano, Laguna Blanca Hill, and the historic town of Londres, recognized as the second oldest settlement in Argentina.

We will dedicate approximately 1 hour and a half at Campo de Piedra Pómez, where visitors can enjoy a stroll and explore the protected natural area, covering more than 75,000 hectares at an altitude exceeding 3,000 meters. The guide will provide tips on capturing the best photographs in this otherworldly location.

Following the exploration of Campo de Piedra Pómez, we will make our way back to Tinogasta.

Should the itinerary include a visit to Carachi Pampa, the tour will pause at the volcano, offering the opportunity to circle the formation and admire the lagoon and the associated salt flat. In these lagoons, flamingos, the sole permanent residents, can be observed feeding on algae and snails in the highly alkaline waters.

The excursion concludes with a drop-off at the central hotels in Tinogasta around 10:00 p.m.
